President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is expected to open the 11th meeting of world environment ministers which will take place in Bali February 21-26, 2010.

“The meeting under the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) will be attended by at least 5,000 people from 192 countries,” Bali environment office representative AA Gede Alit Sastrawan said here on Thursday.

Alit Sastrawan said various preparations and coordination meetings with central committee would keep proceeds because such an effort was intended to declare Bali as the first Green Province in Indonesia.

“Bali’s condition in term of environmental preservation is still better than other provinces in Indonesia,” Alit Sastrawan said.

According to him, it was because environment condition in Bali was still good with green forest and green rice fields across the island.

“The people of Bali in their daily life strongly uphold the concept of so-called Tri Hita Karana, namely the harmonious relation among the local people with their environment and God,” Sastrawan said.

Meanwhile, Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika had instructed all district heads and mayors to intensify clean environment movement in the province.

The governor has instructed all district heads and mayors to re-activate “Clean Friday” movement at all government and private offices.

In addition, the governor also called on commercial area and public facility officials to make better trash management.

With various preparation efforts, the world’s environment ministers meeting in Bali is expected to be successful to declare Bali as a Green Province.
