Targeting 2.3 Million Tourists

Bali provincial government targeting tourist visiting the island in 2010 will reach 2.3 million people. This target higher than the number of tourist visits Bali last year that was 2.2 million people, despite the fact that they merely targeting 1.8 million tourist to visit the island in 2009.

Head of Tourism division in Bali, Ida Bagus Subhiksu in his statement at Renon, on Monday (January 25) stated his optimism toward the fulfillment of that plan when he saw the raising of tourism trend nowadays. In this January tourism visit the island was 6.200 tourists per day when it compared with the same month last year that was merely 4.000 tourists per day.
According to Subhiksi, another indicator which could indicates the number of visiting increase in Bali is through the raising of MICE visitors number, it proved with the international meeting that will be held in Bali.

“Starting from February, there will be UNEP meeting with 5.000 members. MICE during 2010 are quite good,” he said.
Ida Bagus Subhiksu added that during 2010, Bali would get a visit from 400 cruises with almost 45.000 passengers on it.

However, what concern the cruises tourism management nowadays is still the silting up problem at sea port in Bali such Benoa and Padang Bay port.
