Based on the observation of BMKG weather radar, nowadays there is wind and cloud meeting on Bali Sea supported the occurrence of rain from moderate to large rainfall rate, especially around Denpasar city.

“Generally the wind cycle from east moved to west part of Bali went through convergence area, that is the wind meeting place which in turn cause the cloud gathering,” said the expert in Balai Besar Meteorologi, Klimatologi and Geofisika (BMKG) – Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Department – territorial III, Denpasar, Taufan, Thursday.

When contacted in Denpasar, it was mentioned that due to the low pressure cost wind movement on convergence area. Thus, has relationship with the wind condition centered on the sea of West Sumatra.

That weather condition triggered the occurrence of moderate to large rain around Bali capitol city. “As such for recently hard rain happened, from the radar observation it is estimated would happen until late at night,” said Taufan.

From the entering data, rain with moderate to large fell occurrence estimated would fall also in West Tabanan which close to Denpasar. Meanwhile, other location such as Kuta, Jimbaran and area close to the South Sea has light to moderate rainfall occurrence.

Meanwhile, head of BMKG territory III Denpasar, Sumiratno also added that nowadays his party had operating new weather radar from US replace the old equipment used for more than 26 years.

“From our radar investigation, surely transition season between dry and raining season comes this month. What that shall be aware of is the existence of tornado and hard rain happened in Denpasar and its surrounding area,” he explained.

Sumiratno explained that weather radar is needed in order to support BMKG basic tasks. “Our three basic tasks is predicting or detecting tsunami, extreme weather and climate change,” he said.

That is why, his party got new radar assistance in order to support BMKG Denpasar activity that had been determined as “Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre” (TCWC) as well as the place supporting TCWC Jakarta.

Sumiratno added that his party obligated to give information regarding tropical cyclone event around Bali, NTB, NTT as well as other area close to the source of tropical cyclone at South Java to South East Nusa.
