LDII Bali Planted 1.500 Mangroves in Serangan
Lembaga Dakwah Islam Indonesia (LDII) for Bali Province – Indonesia Islamic Preaching Institution – supported Bali Island program to go clean and green with planting 1.500 mangrove seeds around Sakenan temple of Serangan Village, Denpasar on Sunday.
Hundreds of people participated in this greening action, they comes from Serangan Island area itself, LDII people and some public figures from varied elements.
Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika in his welcoming speech read by head of Bali Forestry Agency Anak Agung Ngurah Buana said that the government had delivered their award upon LDII effort in this go green activity.
“Hopefully this activity could push people in Bali to get more motivation planting trees so there will be green and clean environment condition in Bali in the nearer future,” he said.
He also confessed that today the wide of people’ forest park area around Ngurah Rai is 1.373.5 hectare that is fully mangrove forest only.
According to the identification result, there are 38 mangrove species, 61 bird’s species, 4 reptiles and 30 other animals. Nevertheless, this Ngurah Rai forest park, which is located in a strategic place in its recent years, went through very heavy pressure.
“This is due to the forest encroachment, deforestation, waste disposal and many others which threatened mangrove forest preservation. Thus, make us have high anticipation for many parties participation, including the people to actively protecting and maintaining mangrove preservation,” he said.
According to him, the existence of mangrove forest in Ngurah Rai has function to avoid beach abrasion, besides could become Denpasar and Badung city lung.
Vice head of Bali DPD LDII, Suparto added that this greening activity hoped could conducted every once a year by LDII Bali considering its big benefit for environment preservation.
“This also stand as our commitment as LDII people in order to protecting our environment,” he said.
