June 30th, 2010

Bali Provincial Government commitment in realizing environmentally friendly investment can be seen through its policy that also stand as support for Bali becomes a green province or in other words “Bali Clean and Green”.

“That effort needs environmentally friendly electrical supply system in a sufficient amount,” said one of Udayana University Lecturer, Ketut Gede Dharma Putra in Denpasar on Tuesday.

He said, electricity that is become a vital needs in order to fulfill lighting necessity at household level had pushes the occurrence of investment climate and stimulate economic growth.

That is why environmentally friendly electricity needs serious concern since Bali aim for clean and green province.

Dharma Putra who also an environment observer in Bali, remind the development in Bali should prioritize onto three sectors that is agriculture in its wide meaning, industrial development both for household and small industry then the last one is tourism.

“Those three sectors are supported each other carrying one hope of bringing prosperity to the local people as well as strengthening the economic,” Dharma Putra said.

All of it need reliable electricity system yet environmentally friendly at the same time.

Those suggestions and ideas become something for PLN – National Electricity Company – to consider for near future, he said.

Meanwhile, General Manager of Indonesia Power, Antonius RT Artono in a separate occasion explained that electrical condition in Bali still have electrical supply around 20 mega watt (MW).

That 20 MW energy supply still seen as a vulnerable energy supply since peak load demand 535 MW energy from its initial amount of 555 MW supply, if there is one power station went through repairmen, it will decrease power supply in Bali.

For instance, periodic repair at gas power plant will reduce electrical supply. Moreover, on the next August, one electrical power in Gilimanuk Jembrana will undergo its periodical maintenance and would cause Bali lose 130 MW electrical supply.

“If we have no substitute for this, then black out is unavoidable event. That number of energy in Gilimanuk alone could covers 30 percent electrical consumer in Bali. Hopefully another power supply in Pesanggaran Denpsar also can be finished at that month to support the lost of energy happened in gilimanuk,” said Antonius.
