Hundreds of Aston Hotel Employee Demonstration

Hundreds of Aston Hotel employee in Tanjung Benoa Badung Bali today held demonstration. Those employees rejected court decision whose stating the hotel was broke and against any forceful termination delivered by the curators.

This demonstration held at the parking area in front of Aston Hotel Tanjung Benoa Badung. In this action, all participants wear Balinese traditional custom.

It was seen that some foreign tourists also participated in this demonstration. Some employee also invites their little children in this demonstration.

They unfurled banners and posters and those employees speak their oration in turn as well as performing topeng bondres attraction, a Balinese theatrical drama.

In this demonstration, those employees rejected Surabaya Trading Court’s decision stating Aston Hotel in Tanjung Benoa broke or bankrupt. They viewed that decision merely an engineer since the fact showed that the hotel still gain profit thorough it’s averagely 90 to 100 percent occupancy rate.

“We were shocked when our Hotel decided bankrupt by Surabaya Trading Court. It against the fact on scene and did not qualified any conditions required in neither bankrupt nor insurance law. The company’s operational (Aston Tanjung Benoa) run normally, company finance is healthy and occupancy rate reached 95 to 100 percent. Workers’ right also fulfilled and each year we receive bonus,” explained employee delegation, Made Wina.

Hundreds of Hotel employee also against forceful termination delivered by bankrupt receiver Suwandi Halim.
“Besides the decision is not suited the fact on scene (Hotel is not bankrupt and still healthy), this termination threat is an arbitrary authority and is not appropriate with men power law. We asked to Supreme Court to revise it again. We against this bankrupt and force termination since it was engineering and a lie,” Wina continued.

According to Wina, some of Aston Hotel Tanjung Benoa employee threatened with termination reached 365 employees. Before, there are 30 employees terminated forcefully by curator.

This dispute began when Aston Bali Hotel sue Mandiri Bank at South Jakarta District Court on July 16 2009.
Mandiri Bank sued due to this back investment credit which actually in Rupiah but the payment is counted in American Dollar.

The proceeds at South Jakarta District Court were still in mediation process then on September 10 2009 Mandiri Bank proposed debt postponed request to Surabaya Trading Court.

The request was fulfilled by the court by issuing bankruptcy toward PT Dewata Royal Indonesia as the management of Aston Tanjung Benoa Bali on October 1st 2009.
