7 Balinese Traditional Dances Proposed to UNESCO
Ministry of Tourism and Economic Creative suggested for Balinese traditional dance proposed to United Nation of Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization to achieve world recognition as part of Indonesian cultures. There were 7 dances as complementary part of religious ceremony proposed by the government, such as Barong and Sanghyang Dance.
Head Documentation and Publication of Research and Development Center for Culture and Economy, Teguh Harisusanto stated that Bali traditional dance suggested to UNESCO is part of Bali dance lived since long ago and its existence spread all around Bali. Those traditional Bali dance proposed as part of representative list intangible culture heritage.
“We put the dance onto Representative list Intangible iculture heritage, it still under research in UNESCO, either it deserve or not to entering the next phase, ,“ said Teguh Harisusanto.
Harisusanto added that on 2013 targeted that all Indonesia suggestion to UNESCE would receive recognition. It is very important in preserving culture in Indonesia.
